What is hot press printing ?

A heat press is a machine engineered to imprint a design or graphic on a substrate, such as a t-shirt, with the application of heat and pressure for a preset period of time. While heat presses are often used to apply designs to fabrics, they can also be used to imprint designs on mugs, plates, jigsaw puzzles, and other products.

Both manual and automatic heat presses are widely available. A new style of press that is semi-automatic has entered the market as well, allowing for a manual closing process with an automatic opening. Digital technology in newer machines enables precise control of heat and pressure levels and timing. The most common types of heat press employ a flat platen to apply heat and pressure to the substrate. In the "clam shell" design, the upper heat element in the press opens like a clam shell, while in the "swing-away" design, the heat platen swings away from the lower platen. Another design type a "draw style press" allows for the bottom platen to be pulled out like a drawer away from the heat for preparation of the graphic. Vacuum presses utilise air pressure to provide the necessary force and can achieve high psi ratings.

How To Use A Heat Press To Print Shirts:

1. first make your design in illustrator or paint, then flip it so that the writing and picture is backwards

2. print it out(make shure your transfer sheet is inkject or lazer) and use the right printer for the paper

3. now cut out your design(as close to the edge of the design you can get

4. now turn your press on, To turn it on there is usually a red or green button/switch, put the heat at 187 C, and wait for it to heat up (keep lid down)

5. when its hot, open the lid, place a silicone sheet(or a peice of parchment paper) down on the press mat, now place your shirt down, and place another peice of parchment, put the lid down a press for 5 seconds

6. put the lid up and take off the top layer of parchment, lay your design down(design facing toward fabric), and place parchment paper over, put lid down and press for 25 to 30 seconds

7. then remove lid, and parchment, the pull the design off(from the left hand corner slowly to the right)

8. now turn off your press(only if pressing one shirt), take tshirt and hang over a chair, design facing the chair to cool

Cyberbully (2011) (TV) - Words can hurt

Cyberbully follows Taylor Hillridge (Emily Osment), a teenage girl who falls victim to online bullying, and the cost it nearly takes on her and her family. Taylor is a pretty 17-year-old high school student but a little awkward, and painfully aware of it. When her mom gives her a computer for her birthday, Taylor is excited by the prospect of freedom and the independence of going online without her mother always looking over her shoulder. However, Taylor soon finds herself the victim of betrayal and bullying while visiting a social website, and afraid to face her peers at school, including her best friend (Kay Panabaker), she is pushed to a breaking point. Taylor's mom, Kris (Kelly Rowan), reels from the incident and takes on the school system and state legislation to help prevent others from going through the same harrowing ordeal as her daughter.

An Important Lesson,
Author: randybuchler from United States

"While I would agree with some other people's comments that the girl being bullied would likely be popular in real life, the movie as a whole makes a very important point, cyber bullying is a legitimate problem. Technology has made it easier to bully and no matter how hard we try to protect our kids there is no escape from it as the movie points out. It also makes the strong point that many people don't realize there is no such thing as absolute free speech (and there shouldn't be). Words that involve defamation and libel invade one's rights to privacy and this movie points this out effectively. If nothing else it challenges parents to do more and realize kids (and even some adults) are struggling with many emotional issues due to this cowardly form of bullying. It also though not naming any sites should remind us that many kids are attracted to sites like Facebook and those types of sites should do more to stop cyber bullying. It should also remind us there are other sites such as Topix that do not absolutely nothing to curb the problem of cyber bullying and that is a real problem.

"The fact that people are giving this movie a negative review because the plot is unrealistic need to pay attention to the words at the end of the movie. It states that non of this would have been possible without the work of tina Meier and (I can't remember what) but they bring up Megan meiers name. Megan meiers was a 13 year old girl who was friended on myspace by a fake profile named Josh Evans. He told her how perfect she was and lured her to tell him her secrets. He then turned on her and released all the secrets to the people on myspace and called her a fat ugly slut and that the world was better off without her. (to put it short) Megan then hung herself in her closet. It was later found out that the fake profile was created by her ex best friends mother in order to make her pay for falling out with her daughter. The movie is based on a true story, with changes obviously made to make it still appropriate. They're not gonna have then main killer actually commit suicide. Look it up. The entire story may seem unrealistic to you, but to the meier family, it's reality. Do your research before you criticize. "

Worth a watch, 7 August 2011
Author: mickharris from United States

It was a lazy Sunday and I was tired of watching the news so I tuned in. A couple of times, I changed the channel because of a commercial break, yet changed back in time to pick up after that break. I thought this was just going to be another watered down ABC family movie; not that there is anything wrong with that. But I was wrong. This movie is well done and at times very painful yet motivating. When I was in the 2nd grade I (with a friend) called a classmate fatty, not even realizing what I was doing. I just knew that it was getting me attention and a rise out of the kid. He pushed me and I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks. I learned early and had a major lesson that formed my values today. This movie stirred those actions and emotions and it is worth a serious watch. The acting is good and believable and, hopefully, the message will ring true to others who find it a hobby to bully others. Unfortunately, most bullies will either not bother to watch and take action or simply laugh at it. The seriousness could be devastating. This movie might be one of many, but it ranks tops. I suppose I gave it a high rating because I want this movie to be noticed! Give it a try.

Dealing with Cyberbullying: A Practical Approach

The internet has changed how we treat our fellow beings, sometimes with negative consequences. But making it a more pleasant environment may be impossible - Patrick Freyne

Dealing with Cyberbullying: A Practical Approach conference will be held on Saturday March 23rd in IADT from 9.00-4.00.
The aim of this conference is to provide teachers and youth workers with practical advice regarding cyberbullying.
Experts will present on areas connected with cyberbullying, such as the COST guidelines (European research on Cyberbullying), Internet safety, homophobic bullying, educational policy around technology and practical methods of tackling cyberbullying.

The Problem: Research carried out in 2008 by the Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre, Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, found that 30.2% of students (30.3% girls, 30.1% boys) reported that they had been bullied in the previous couple of months. In addition, 24.9% of students (11.5% girls and 30.9% boys) reported that they had taken part in the bullying of others at school. (Anti-Bullying Centre, 2008). This situation is by no means unique to Ireland. It is very worrying because wherever it occurs bullying has such a serious negative impact in both the short term and the long term on targeted students. Indeed, if this kind of behaviour is allowed to persist it can have a very negative impact on the bullying student too. Dan Olweus found, in a Swedish study in 1993 that approximately 60% of boys who were described by teachers and peers as being bullies had at least one criminal conviction by the age of 24 and that 35-40% of these bullying students had 3 or more criminal convictions by this age. In the long run, then, bullying is bad for everyone involved and everyone stands to benefit if it can be prevented or reduced.

The Challenge: Have you ever wished you could contribute to reducing bullying in your school? Where would you begin? There is a lot of information available as to the nature of bullying, where, why and how it takes place, the damage it does and the urgency of preventing it. Bullied students and their parents are always, and rightly advised to report bullying to teachers. However, there has been a scarcity of both training and ready-made, easy-to-use practical tools that busy teachers in secondary schools (age 12-18) can use to minimise bullying and to deal with incidents when they arise.

The Tools: We are offering secondary teachers ready-made downloadable anti-bullying tools for each year-group in their schools and an easy to follow school-wide framework in which to use them.  We have been developing or adapting them since 2004 in Coláiste Éanna, Ballyroan Rd., Dublin 16, Ireland (a school in the Edmund Rice Schools Trust - formerly C.B.S.).  We have been guided in our efforts by the wisdom of such well-known writers and researchers in this field as Dr. Mona O'Moore (Ireland), Dr. Dan Olweus (Norway) and Dr. Ken Rigby (Australia).  This development is ongoing.  We offer these tools free of charge because we believe that student welfare, safety and happiness are rights that should not have a price-tag.  Indeed, we hope that any other teachers who have useful anti-bullying tools/resources will share these with us and through this website with colleagues in other schools on the same basis - a kind of teachers' anti-bullying co-operative.  Then students can benefit even more.

The Solution: Using these tools to implement the Anti-Bullying Campaign programme in schools bullying is reduced, students who bully are reformed, bystanders become more vigilant and supportive of targeted students and the lives of targeted students are made a lot happier.  There will probably always be some bullying in schools, as elsewhere, but by implementing the Anti-Bullying Campaign programme in schools a culture of the Three "R"s can be developed, a culture where bullying is Recognised, Rejected and Reported by students.  Teachers are then empowered to respond effectively to reports of bullying behaviour using our "Reform, not Blame" approach to deal with the bullying situations.  Full implementation of the Anti-Bullying Campaign programme in Coláiste Éanna led to a significant reduction in both the number of students bullied and the intensity of bullying incidents.  It also enabled over 90% of bullying situations to be resolved without any negative repercussions for either targeted students, bullying students or observers.  The programme continues to deliver this success rate.

The tools: we offer are not a "quick-fix" solution to bullying.  They depend for their effectiveness on the willingness of teachers to use them and a commitment from schools to give priority to implementation of the Anti-Bullying Campaign programme.  To minimise the workload involved for teachers, the tools we offer are ready-made and generally self-explanatory - we have already done the preparation and planning for you.

Our comprehensive Anti-Bullying Campaign pregramme is more effective at reducing bullying in schools than an "anti-bullying week" or other occasional one-off anti-bullying events.  It is more effective than relying on SPHE, CSPE and Religious Education programmes or indeed all of these. The fact that bullying is still so widespread in schools is evidence that these, without an ongoing dedicated and effective anti-bullying programme, have limited impct.  Therefore, we encourage you and a group of your teacher colleagues to register above (click on the "Register" icon above and follow the instructions). Together, you can then implement a successful Anti-Bullying Campaign programme in your school along the lines we suggest.  We believe that no work teachers do is more important or should get higher priority than this. If you do this we think that when you see the outcome you will consider it well worth the effort.  Your students certainly will.

Chinese New Year

Welcome! 2013 Year of Snake

2013 celebrates the Year of the Snake. Established in 2008 the Dublin Chinese New Year Festival (DCNYF) showcases the best of Sino Irish Culture in Ireland and 2013 marks the sixth year of this internationally recognized festival. As Dublin continues to build on its twinning with Beijing, the festival is delighted to deliver our high profile cultural programme including the Third Chinese Film Festival at the Lighthouse Cinema, a special Spring Festival partnership with the Council of Europe Intercultural Cities Conference - an official part of Ireland hosting of the European Presidency, the main DCNYF Carnival on Chinese New Year’s Day, Traditional Dragon and Lion dances, a Sion-Irish Business Seminar, the DCNYF Lecture series, a Children’s Programme, an Arts and Music Programme, Martial Arts, Sports and much more for all ages.

Sixth in the Twelve Year Cycle, people born in the Year of the Snake are acute, aware, charming, cunning, elegant, mysterious, passionate, proud, serene and vain. They are attractive people who handle crises with ease and do not easily become flustered. They are graceful people, exciting and dark at the same time. They are fascinated with all beautiful things in life. Poor in communication, Snakes are contemplative and private and are not outwardly emotional. Appearing cunning and reticent, they usually act according to their own judgment and do not follow the views of others. Conscientious and diligent at work, they are organized and precise, cautious and alert when doing business. Snake people are passionate lovers and show a strong desire for control when associating with others. They will never forgive anyone who breaks a promise. They show their resentment with ice-cold hostility instead of bitter words. Some of the people born in the Year of the Snake may strike their enemies with a deadly blow.

Famous Snake People: Queen Elizabeth I, Virginia Woolf, Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Dean Martin, Grace Kelly, Pierce Brosnan, Art Garfunkel, Liz Hurley, Colm Meaney, Brad Pitt, Cyndi Lauper, Paul Simon, Dionne Warwick, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Fassbender and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

The Snake is best matched with those born in the year of the Ox, Dragon and Rooster but not with those born in the year of the Pig, Monkey or Tiger.

The years of the Snake are 1905, 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013.

Also there is film festival for Chinese new year. My most favorite film is the "Yu Ming is Ainm Dom: Special 10th year Anniversary Focus" at Light House Cinema.

Pop Art

Theme of exhibition – Cyber Bullying, The our exhibition will presented in a Pop Art style.
Also think about the slogan and story boarding. The Art Center appears to be the popular choice.

Pop Art is a style of art which explores the everyday imagery that is so much a part of contemporary consumer culture. Common sources of imagery include advertisements, consumer product packaging, celebrity photographs, and comic strips.

Leading Pop artists include Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, and Roy Lichtenstein.

When we talk about pop art have to bring Andy Warhol into it. His most famous works depicted Camp bell's soup cans. Enlarged, hand-painted or silk screened, framed, and hung in an art gallery, Warhol succeeded in turning these mundane images into ironic "art".

Warhol experimented in media such as film, sculpture, paint, and silkscreen, but perhaps his greatest work was his invention of himself as an international celebrity and pop culture icon.

Andy Warhol screen printing- Andy Warhol screen printing a Marlon Brando canvas at the Factory.

The idea is we try to use pop art style to printing any object about Cyber Bullying on the T-shirt. This is introduction of Pop Art Screen Pattern Technique.

Screen Printing

"Screen printing uses a fine mesh material that ink is passed through to place ink on a material such as paper or a fabric. Inks can be printed onto the paper or fabric in slightly different colors to produce tonal differences. The meshed screen and paper are secured in a frame to ensure they do not move during the printing process. Ink is inserted into the frame at the lower edge and applied to the screen using a squeegee to force the ink through each open hole in the mesh."

Sealing

"The artistic screen printing techniques for creating a pattern include the sealing of areas that are not to be colored with ink. Each time a colored ink is applied to a screen a new meshed screen must be used. Inks are mixed to create different colors, with six inks capable of producing around 63 colors Arte lino reports. Areas of the screen that are not to colored with a certain ink can be sealed manually or by a chemical process. A manual process of sealing a screen is to attach stencils of paper or foil to the screen to block off areas from the ink."

Cyberbullying Exhibition Project

First, introduce a movie about Cyber bullying. It is called Cyberbully (TV 2011) About Teen girl Taylor Hill ridge gets a a laptop for her birthday and signs up on a social networking site. She starts to feel alone as her friends ostracize her and she falls victim to cyber bullying. Written by Paramorezombiea, skribb.

The theme of the exhibition it is about Cyber bullying  It is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner. As it has become more common in society, particularly among young people, legislation and awareness campaigns have arisen to combat it. Example of Poster:
http://westmdesigns.blogspot.ie/2011/03/cyberbullying-poster-project.html

Example of Bullying exhibition: Artists Linda Regula and Paul Richmond launched an inspiring site called the “You Will Rise Project.” This site has over 200 posts dedicated to giving all of the victims of bullying a chance to reach out through art. This site has no deadlines concerning the artwork; this site will be accepting ongoing submissions.

This inspiring site invites all people of all ages and backgrounds to submit their work whenever they are ready. Paul and Linda were victims of bullying when they were young, so they can empathize with passion concerning the artwork.

Bullying is a huge issue in our country, even worldwide and the Richmond’s has opened their heart to reach those who are being bullied. Art is a beautiful way to vent, and to show how bullying is wrong. This is a great site for people to connect and help one another concerning this issue.

The artwork in this site is very passionate and when you take a look at the artwork you will see their pain, concern, purpose, and faith to make changes. So many people especially students battle day after day with this issue, and the solution is us. We have to come together to find a way to stop bullying, most parents probably don’t know their child is being bullied or being the bully.

Paul and Linda open the door for people to post their artwork so it may shine like the sun unto our nation. Feel free to visit this unique site and help find a way to stop bullying so another man; woman, boy, and girl won’t have to suffer anymore. In Norfolk VA, a school Psychologist Jaclyn Lemp researched bullying and spoke up to the school board concerning this matter. Because she spoke up schools had to submit an anti bullying curriculum. Visit this site to read more about this topic.
